When I'm not in the mood to print (yes, I said it - it sometimes happens that the thought of cleaning the press makes me want to just lie down instead) but feel the need to make, I turn to bookbinding. It's not exactly the quickest DIY craft to feed the fix, but it's still quite satisfying. I get to re-purpose paper, selvage some of my letterpress off-cuts and voila - a mini book. When it doesn't take much materials, tools or time, I'm down with it.

I've got a meet up with a few friends on Sunday and we'll be bookbinding (some of us for the first time). I thought it'd be nice to make a few of these and give them to the group to mark the occasion. As you can see, I couldn't completely get away without using my press and chose to blind print some names on the covers.

In case you're interested in learning how to do Japanese stab bookbinding, Jenni Bick has a great tutorial.

Happy weekend, everyone. Make something.

Yes sometimes cleaning up my mess puts me off :)
Love this binding technique, haven't yet attempted Coptic, it looks so time consuming and I bet my lines will be wobbly :)

OOOO.... love those! I really love the blind impression too. I'm going to have to check out that tutorial and try it.
You're always coming out with great ideas -- so inspiring!
