starburst are coming to town: City of Craft

I just found out last week that I'll be participating in the City of Craft happening this weekend. It's been a crazy week of late night printing and getting things together for my table. I'm happy to say that I'll be bringing the Postcard Printing Station to the event! It debuted at the first Junction Flea and was a hit. I will be at the City of Craft on both Saturday and Sunday from 12-2pm. If you're in the hood, say hello or come and get your hands dirty and print a postcard or two. There'll also be a few new cards featuring the starbursts!

You guys, The Snap + Tumble shop is finally open today! I've stocked it with the well-loved starburst cards, sets of silhouette postcards, and the modern ornaments cards. I'm also happy to be offering simple custom calling cards with the choice of one of four fonts which will be handset. If you've got your eye on a set of 30 calling cards for a Christmas gift, please order before November 30th to get them in time for the holidays!

It's been a long time since the paper goods have been offered online - feels great to be back!

origami greetings at The Paper Place

origami figures by Lauren Ashpole

These origami greetings are making their debut at The Paper Place (the go-to shop for specialty papers in Toronto). This is the first and only set of exclusively printed stationery for The Paper Place which means they won't be sold anywhere else. Judith Rudoler, manager of The Paper Place, helped to select the origami animals and the accompanying greetings. I like the idea of creating and printing cards specifically for shops. If you're a stockist and interested in having exclusive Snap + Tumble pieces to carry, let's get in touch!

loot bag count down

A warm thank you to those who picked themselves up a Letterpress Loot Bag from the pop-up shop yesterday. And hugs to those who shared and passed on the shop link, tweeted, blogged and sent messages. Some of you have asked if this will be the only time I make the loot bags, and the answer is no. But it won't be for another while so this is it for now.

I'm glad to see all of the loot bags off to good homes.

UPDATE: 7:57PM Loot Bags sold out!

Friday, 11 December 2009

First up, the snap & tumble shop has been updated with a few goodies - become a Facebook Fan and get 20% of any item until Monday December 14th!

Second, the City of Craft finally descends upon Toronto tomorrow at 12pm! I'm excited about being a part of the show, looking at (and definitely purchasing) handmade wares from other vendors, and seeing a few familiar faces from The Letterpress Curiosity Workshops. I've got my lovely helpers Angela and Ingrid giving me a hand this weekend (thank you, girls!). Two days, installations, workshops, 40+ vendors - it's going to be a doozy!

And last but not least, Chantal Braganza from The Star wrote an article on crafty wrapping and invited myself, Mr. Skona and Sweetie Pie Press to participate in the shoot. Have a look at the slide show here.

Have a great weekend everyone - stay warm!

ps. Letter Love Friday will be back next week.

a rocking horse for christmas

I've always liked architectural drawings, siteplans, cross sections, technical sketches and diagrams of any kind. I found this rocking horse illustration in a vintage magazine on one of my thrift store adventures. It falls nicely in line with the DIY idea and the movement towards handmade gifts. That and it makes a perfect holiday card feature at this year's City of Craft. There are 33 prints of these cards and they are editioned on the back. I'll also be putting a limited amount up for sale in the snap & tumble shop tomorrow.
