Thursday, 2 January 2014

Happy New Year, friends! I hope that everyone's holiday season was merry and bright. We had a relaxing couple of weeks with family and friends. Everything was lovely except for the crazy ice storm that caused a massive loss of power within the greater Toronto area. We were one of the luckier ones and only had to make do without power for about 36 hours. The outage happened on the morning of my birthday, so it made for a memorable day!

It's a new beginning, which means new dates for the Tabletop Letterpress Workshop. We are now back to our regularly scheduled program! Dates are up for January and you can find details here.

These will be available for purchase online and will be posted as early as possible. I'll also have a handful at the Drake Holiday Flea if you'll be in the neighbourhood next Saturday (Dec. 7th).

holiday card printing with yen + danijela

A couple weeks back when I launched the Holiday Card Workshops, I invited these two lovely gals to the opening. Yen and Danijela were such good sports to be printing holiday-themed cards in October! It was a grand time chatting the whole way through and getting to know these ladies a little better outside of the blogosphere. Thanks for joining the workshop ladies! Here's to snail mail and the festive season!

Have a look at what Yen and Danijela had to say about their time printing at the studio :)

I found the all-Christmas-music radio station yesterday and it totally made my day.

Some snapshots above of the lovely Erica printing her holiday cards in the workshop last weekend.

Hot pink and wintergreen are so in this season!

it's here! letterpress holiday card workshops

I'm so excited to announce the opening of Snap + Tumble's first letterpress holiday card workshop! For those of you who like to get a jump on the season, these workshops will be held in November which leaves plenty of time to write and post your handmade greetings. There will be a selection of seven festive designs to choose from and to print with on the Mini Showcard Proof press. Participants will take home 15 letterpress printed cards to send and share with friends and loved ones. Also included, will be two vintage stamp packs by Send More Mail. These sweet stamps are holiday themed and are enough to send two standard sized letters within Canada. Visit the Snap + Tumble website for more information, dates and registration details!

Lucy is a gal who loves puns, wordplay, fonts and letterpress. She visited the studio over the weekend for the Tabletop Letterpess workshop and got to play with metal and wood type to her heart's content. How about that sassy electric blue colour on the press? Nice to see something so bright, bold and very blue hit the ink disc once in a while!

Monday, 18 March 2013

It's been three weekends in a row of workshops that participants chose this colour to mix. Something about this mint, pale green that seems to be a hit with the folks taking the workshops. Can't really argue though - it is a nice colour.

the big four!

Okay, so February weekends are full for letterpress workshops and I'm now booking into March. Really, really nice to see that folks are signing up and are enthusiastic about seeing my home-studio set-up and process. The Tabletop Letterpress Workshop is now in it's fourth year! Has it already been that long? Time flies when you're having fun.

Snap + Tumble got a shout out in the November issue of Today's Parent!  It's a short write up about the Tabletop Letterpress workshop and a nod to good 'ol handwritten notes on handmade stationery. I've got a couple of spots still available for the workshop, check out the dates here.

I had a lovely couple, Katherine and Nick, come into the studio on two occasions to print their own wedding stationery. They designed and printed the invitation, two maps and notecards (not seen here). I love the big and bold font for their names and the ornamental ampersand. Clean, minimal, classic all around. Congratulations Katherine and Nick!

Thursday, 4 October 2012

I'm long overdue in posting photos of these beautiful invitations designed and printed by Kristen and Grant. I met them at one of my on-site workshops at the Wedding Show at the Drake and they got hooked on the idea of letterpress printed invites. They researched what was involved in printing the stationery themselves, rented the studio and arrived with a large Rubbermaid bucket filled with cottony paper, envelopes and plates to print with. They didn't need me at all - I just provided the press and inks! I loved having this couple in the studio (and Kristen's mom who also joined in on a separate day) and seeing them crank out tonnes of lovely invitations done in classic black. They also did some fine finishing touches with lined envelopes, belly bands and a wax seal to complete the set. Have a look at the entire suite and read about their process on Kristen's blog (she's also posted all kinds of great DIY's for the home). Kristen and Grant also just celebrated their one year anniversary!

Deb is a past letterpress workshop participant who dropped in over the weekend for a refresher course. She bought a tabletop press last year and wanted to brush up on the basics. It's always so nice to re-connect with past participants who have since gotten a press of their own and to talk shop.

Speaking of the workshops, autumn workshop dates have been scheduled for October and November!
