mosquitoes be damned

We're back from the cottage and for the most part, I loved it. The sun, the water, the food, the lazing about, the company, all good. I even had grand plans of trying to make s'mores for the first time. And that's when things went downhill. We made the mistake of starting a campfire just as it was getting dark around 9pm. Apparently that's exactly the time when NOT to be outside because the mosquitoes come out to feed. We forgot. I managed to roast one marshmallow and get it in between two graham crackers before I was attacked. I was not happy. Once bitten and my skin reacts like it's been poisoned. For the past two years it seems like it's taking longer for me to heal from mosquitoes bites. I'm an absolute baby about getting bitten. The itching drives me nuts. I envy those who don't feel a thing or who's swelling goes away after an hour or a day. In comes my aunt-in-law who recommended what she uses on bites, witch hazel. My goodness, why hadn't I heard about this before? This stuff works like a charm.

So, I still don't know what a s'mores tastes like. But my anxiety over mosquitoes just got a little less bothersome.

I know how you feel! They love to bite me too, drives me nuts for days on end!
Tried all sorts to keep them away, eating tonnes of garlic, stinky repellant (kept everything else away bar the mossys :) but the best I've found is a herbal remedy based on lemons plus I smell lovely ;o)
