letterpress curiosity workshop: creating

I mentioned before that one of the reasons I wanted to offer workshops is so that I could meet other local letterpress enthusiasts. Josh, Sandi, Quinn and Amanda came to the LCW this past weekend and it was such a treat to see the smiles on their faces when they met the press. Wheels started to turn, questions were asked, type was set, ink was mixed and stationery started accumulating. Josh's attitude towards the process was spot on when he discovered a typesetting error and went with it anyway - sometimes our mistakes pave the way to great ideas and make the best of prints. Imperfection is part of the good stuff of letterpress printing. One of the best things about printing with what is available (type) were the endless possibilities. The group formed ideas on the spot and watched their designs come to life when the ink hit the paper. My Sunday group, especially, experimented with the woodblock and metal type which ended up in a great selection of cards.

Some October sessions are still available, let me know if you're interested in registering!
