ludlow

print is not dead

On my visit to Don Black's, Ken Wrigglesworth of Kozo Studio demonstrated the Ludlow Hot Metal Caster. It was the first time I got to set type and see it cast in metal. The instant gratification of it is addicting. That's my cast line in the photo, "Print Is Not Dead".

Check out the video of Nicholas Kennedy from Trip Print Press using the Ludlow from Don Black's shop.

Ahh! Nicholas is the best! I went to his studio a couple of years back to get my letterpress cards done. He has some amazing presses, and is so nice to talk to.
Do you have a project in mind for your cast line?

Melinda Josie: No project in mind, it was just an on-the-spot casting. That and I like the phrase :)

Have you thought of printing those as a t-shirt (with Snap + Tumble on the back)? I would totally buy one.

Kristen: understatement!

Micheline: hmmm, didn't think of doing that. I'm not really set up to do that. But I'd totally buy one too ;)

I know that you're always one to try something new… have you thought of printing the shirts yourself on the letterpress. Although I haven't tried it myself (yet) I've heard of quite a few people doing it. The best example I could find was port2port press.

I haven't done t-shirts yet, not sure that I'll go that route. But I did test on muslin fabric and that's a as far as I went. I love port2port's onesies.
