Two years ago I went on a mad hunt for an sx-70. I got one from Ebay for a fairly decent price. Then a week later, a search came up on Craigslist from a guy who was getting rid of a collection of vintage cameras. A couple of Polaroids were a part of that heap. Figuring I could use them for parts in case one of them was broken, I scooped them up. That is how I ended up with 3 sx-70's. I have since sold one. I didn't ever get around to using the camera's. I never got up the nerve to shell out for the obscure film when I actually found it.
But now, as you may have heard, The Impossible Project scored major points with analogue lovers everywhere by bringing the beloved Polaroid film back.
After I get past the $50 shipping fee, I'll put these puppies to good use.

I have the same thing going on. :) I was on a mad hunt, found one, got it, and have never since used it. $50 for shipping hurts me also, right now. I think I will wait for when they will have color film available also, and then go for it.
I e-mailed them about the ridiculous shipping rate (which I discovered after getting nearly all the way through the check-out process; the worst way!) No response as yet. I can't bring myself to spend this much on shipping film.
chucksdaisies: the b&w looks so dreamy, but I think if I'm going to pay that much for it, I'll go with colour too.
Jane: I too got as far as the checkout and saw the $70+ final amount and said to myself, "uhm, actually...no thanks." Good for you for emailing them! Maybe I should too - the more noise, the better :)
That's so neat. I love vintage cameras, and love the idea of using them (I used to use a polaroid all the time) but I am too broke/cheap to shell out the money myself! I'll have to make do with my digital!
Wow ! nice looking camera - pitty about the film, what do they think they are shipping! - a brick ;-)
These are such beauties! I still find all my Polaroid film on ebay...perhaps that would be a way around crazy shipping fees. I love this photo.
Mo: Yeah, I've just been using my digital. But I'll also use the Vivitar Slim (35mm!).
jax: lol!
alexandira: I'm still on the lookout on Ebay :)
I've been coveting and YEARNING for a polaroid for years...I can't believe you have more than one! The shipping fee though..yikes! It's just like my Holga camera, I still haven't got my film developed bc it's a bit pricey...*sigh...
oh...i really regret not buying asuper polaroid camera for $10 when i had the chance...maybe i too need to hunt around ebay a bit...
and love that you use the word "puppies" so i do..;))
